SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Nicopolis Seleucis. Seal (Terracotta, 23 mm, 2.54 g), circa 1st-2nd centuries. NIKO-ΠΟ/ΛЄIT-ⲰN The Tyche of Antioch, veiled and wearing kalathos, seated left on rock, head facing, placing her left hand on rock; to left, river-god swimming left. Rev. Blank. D. Klose: Nikopolis und Dolice, in: JNG 34 (1984), pl. 9, 1-4. Very rare and unusual. Very fine.

Klose suggests that this is the official seal of the city of Nicopolis Seleucis, which was founded by Alexander 'the Great' on the site of his great victory in the Battle of Issos in 333 BC
